I moved to London where I got a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Fashion. At that time I was more fashion-oriented so I started a career. After years working in this field, I felt the urge to „get back to the roots“ as a full-time artist.
Could you tell us about how old Hollywood has influenced your work?
I have been fixated on these Hollywood-famous figures for some time. I find the process by which a celebrity becomes stratospherically famous extremely interesting. They represent some of the most iconic celebrities that any generation can immediately recognize. This intensity of personality is something that I try to recreate through my work. They’re like vintage influencers.
What artist and era of art are you most drawn to when conceptualizing your artwork?
Andy Warhol. I love the way his works explore the connection between celebrity culture and artistic expression. I try to recreate the 60’s atmosphere in the present era.
Are there any other mediums you would like to explore for example digital art?
I just finished a collaboration with VINS to make a sculpture of one of my work, it was a great experience.
What has been the highlight of your career so far and what are you looking forward to next?
Every single exhibitions enabled me to develop and improve my art, one of the most important things in art is practicing.
Has the pandemic changed the way you would connect to your audience and sell an artwork?
Since the pandemic I physically couldn’t be at the galleries for my exhibitions but fortunately the shows weren’t cancelled. Coronavirus has forced the art market to adapt to the virtual realm; There’s a large rise in galleries’ interest in its e-commerce platform, developing virtual viewing rooms.
